NPC Structure
From BSGame

Non-playable Character's (NPC) are very different in BSGame than many others. They are extremely scriptable and in fact encouraged to be made as scripts and not as the normal method for most cases. Basically this server contains many different types of NPC.

[edit] Animals & Creatures
First we have the animal/monster type. For the purpose of this document we will simply refer to them as monsters. Though most monster's are in fact real animals, there are occasionally real monsters in this category. Monsters come in many flavors. Timid, non-aggressive, aggressive, cornered-beserker, hunter, pet, and other.
[edit] Timid
Timid monsters are very simple. They encompass rabbits, frogs, and anything else that simply runs another creature approaches it. They typically are very easy to kill and serve no real value in doing so. Timid creatures simply forage or scavenge depending on their nature (carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore) and avoid conflict at all costs. They typically do not attack unless it is their only option. Typically, a player will not hunt or try to interact with these creatures unless they are specifically looking for a small amount of meat or their pelt.
[edit] Non-Aggressive
Non-Aggressive creatures are very simple monsters. They too simply try to survive like a timid creature. However, if they are attacked, they will fight back. These creatures do not try and fight anything for any reason in normal circumstances. Whether a carnivore or omnivore, they will continue to act as scavengers and only eat scraps. If in a pack, these creatures can be very formidable in battle. If one gets attacked, the others will join in on the fight. These creatures, along with aggressive creatures, are often hunted for meat, pelts, or other body parts (ie horns, feathers, tusks, etc).
[edit] Aggressive
Aggressive creatures are predators by nature and will attack anything of similar or smaller size. These creatures do not run from any fight unless they are outnumbered or they are up against a bigger opponent. See food-chain for more details. These creatures, along with non-aggressive creatures, are often hunted for meat, pelts, or other body parts (ie horns, feathers, tusks, etc).
[edit] Cornered-Berserker
These creatures are very unique. They run away from fights on any normal basis (and typically very fast). However, if they get cornered, they fight back, really hard. Other than that, they follow the same rules as a timid creature.
[edit] Hunter
These creatures are also unique to others. They are similar to aggressive creatures, but work a little differently. They will try to lure a player/creature into a fight and have them follow them back to their pack. At which point the pack will attack the player/creature all at once. In another scenario. If not in a pack, they will follow their prey until they arrive at the best time to attack, for example, when the creatures health is low from a fight, or the creature has no escape route. These are very smart creatures and are to be feared.
[edit] Pet
Pet's are similar to non-aggressive creatures, but they do not ever attack any player. If they are a wild pet, they usually follow a player that aligns with their personality. If they follow a player freely, then at the first sign of danger they simply run away. These creatures can be adopted and become loyal pets who will help fight for their owner. Players can kill these creatures, but if seen by an NPC, they will receive a bad reputation. There is no value in hunting these animals besides meat or pelt, though no good aligned NPC will accept either. Killing a pet in cold-blood will result in negative alignment. Owned pets can wear special equipment and can be killed by another player with no negative consequence IF in a duel.
[edit] Humanoids
There are varying types of Humanoid NPCs as well. Humanoids does not directly refer to humans, just human like creatures. Anything that walks and talks like a human or has human-like intelligence is considered a humanoid.
[edit] Civilian
Civilians are the basic type of humanoids. They do not attack nor should be attacked. Attacking any civilian has negative consequences on every account.
